Black Tea / Keemun Black Tea / Loose Tea

Keemun Black Tea is regarded by many as China's finest black tea. The name Keemun comes from the county Qimen in Anhui province. Qimen used to only produce green tea until, in the 1880s, a young official lost his job and was disgraced. His father had advised him that it was better guarantee to have a skill to make a living than hold a position of authority. He traveled to Fujian to learn how to make black tea and on his return set up three factories to manufacture black tea from the same leaves his competitors were making green tea from. It turned out that the Qimen tea leaves were perfectly suited to the manufacture of black tea and when his product became popular in England the other factories turned to making black tea instead of green tea.

It required a great skill to manufature Keemun Black Tea because of the way the leaves are made in to fine strips without breaking them.

Brewing Methods

1. Use 1 soupspoon/caddyspoon.

2. Heat 1/2 litre of water to around 90 degrees (just off boiling)

3. Rinse tea by covering it with some of the hot water and tipping it away

4. Re-infuse tea and steep for 3-5 mins to taste.

5. Can be re-infused around 4 times or until no taste remains

Best enjoyed in a Yixing Teapot
